About Sparky Parker
The gulf coast metropolis of Houston, Texas has a great history of acclaimed blues artists, and Sparky Parker proves that the big city still produces great talent to this day.
Sparky's potent combo of blistering lead guitar work and soulful voice is a force to be reckoned with. For over a decade, he has honed his craft and made a name for himself playing in various Houston-based bands such as Funky Mustard, Mojofromopolis, and Bayou Monster. While the latter two bands mentioned are now defunct, he continues juggling his time between fronting his own band, Sparky Parker Band, as well as playing lead guitar in Funky Mustard, Diunna Greenleaf, and Vanessa Collier.
Sparky released his debut solo album Live In Houston in 2015 to much acclaim. The album features live, power trio renditions of a variety of blues numbers, including three original songs. His hard-rockin', blues-based sound harkens back to the glory days of The Allman Brothers, Hendrix, and SRV.
Over the years, he has opened for some greats like Johnny Winter, Doyle Bramhall, George Porter Jr, and many more national touring acts. He has played onstage with veteran blues artists such as Bernard Allison, John Primer, Bob Margolin, Billy Branch, Nick Moss, Michael Ledbetter, Selwyn Birchwood, Debbie Davies and many more. In 2016, he performed as the lead guitarist with Diunna Greenleaf at the Chicago Blues Festival (the largest free blues festival in the world) as well as the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise #27.
